Priority Skills NL was launched on January 2, 2021, under the Priority Skills NL category. The program is designed for Memorial University of Newfoundland graduates with a master's degree or PhD in an in-demand industry, as well as skilled workers with one year of relevant work experience in the last 10 years. This is a new immigration program for highly educated and highly skilled individuals with specialized experience in areas such as technology and Marine science, for whom the demand in NL exceeds local training and recruitment.
Priority skill category programs operate through EOI systems. Applicants need to achieve an EOI score of 60 or above to be eligible for the program. The annual quota is 250-350.
