What is Long-Haul Truck Drivers Project?

Canada and the United States face a massive shortage of truck drivers, with a shortfall of more than 50,000 jobs over the next five years. Truck driver belongs to NOC C 7511, which is a job in short supply in many provinces. Applicants can submit PR applications to the federal after being nominated by the province, and the success rate is very high.

Long-Haul Truck Drivers program is eligible in these provinces:

  • Ontario Nominee Immigration Program (ONIP) – In-Demand skills Stream (NOC 7511)

  • NSNP Occupations in Demand Stream (NOC 7511)

  • Saskatchewan SINP Long-Haul Truck Drivers Project

Program Highlight

  1. Hold a car driver's license in China or other countries for at least 24 months
  2. To obtain a Canadian truck license, the applicant must be in good health and not have any of the following symptoms or diseases:
    • Epilepsy
    • Specific heart disease
    • Insulin-dependent diabetes
    • Physical disabilities such as paralysis, amputation, severe arthritis, etc.
    • Intermittent fainting
    • History of head trauma
    • Visual and hearing loss (excluding myopia, astigmatism, presbyopia, and other conditions that can be corrected by wearing glasses).
  3. Applicants must meet the minimum age requirement of 18, with no upper age limit
  4. Applicants must have graduated from high school at least (Ontario and NS both explicitly require at least a high school degree)
  5. English requirement CLB 4 (Listening 4.5, Reading 3.5, Writing 4, Speaking 4)
